Very well written and informative piece. I am writing a book called 30 Days of Recovery. The focus is early recovery and information on different types of treatments, programs, medical detox, journaling and relaxation techniques. Anyway, I am working on my 5th draft which I will be sending in for the final edit soon. Less then an hour ago I just brought up this topic of male addiction treatment to my significant other, we are both recovering addicts. I expressed to him that my book is written by me, a woman, but I am trying my hardest to consider and incorporate male needs as well as I review and edit.

It is refreshing to read your article and helpful with my own concerns about my book. We also talked about that there will be other books I can write, I have written three, this does not have to be my last so I should not tamper with my original work too much because it was written in early recovery, for early recover, I should not complicate it or over think it or get too analytical about it. I do however, completely agree with you and thank you for writing this, it definitely helped open our eyes this evening.
